On Wednesday, 6 April at 8PM we will be hosting a talk by Margaret Acher, a holocaust survivor with a fascinating story of courage, sacrifice and human decency - who was also the subject of a BBC documentary, "The Family that Defeated Hitler".
Mme Acher was born in 1930 in Poland and grew up in Warsaw. The family was moved to the Ghetto in 1939. Margaret's father, a Polish army officer, escaped to Hungary where he was hidden by friends. Her mother managed to smuggle Margaret and her sister out of the Ghetto and hid them with a Polish gentile family who protected them at great risk to themselves. At the end of the war the family was reunited.
Today Mme Acher lives in Paris.
